Välipala - Snack

Välipalana syntyi Mr Knittitudelle tämän alaan ja harrastuksiin sopiva retrohenkinen kännykotelo. Lankana Novita Kotiväki (musta), puikot 2,5mm, ristipistot muliinilangalla. Nopea ja kiva työ!

As a knitting snack, I made this cell phone cozy for Mr Knittitude; it suits his studies and interests. The yarn is Novita Kotiväki (black), DPNs 2,5mm, and the Invader is made in cross stitch with mouline thread (I guess that's what it's called?).

Södera-sukatkin valmistuivat, kunhan saan niihin vielä kumi- ja satiininauhat niin laitan kuvia. Lisäksi keskiaikamarkkinoilta ostetusta merinosta kehräsin osan langaksi ja neuloin siitä pipon talveksi, siitäkin kuva tulossa.

I've also finished the Södera socks; I'll post some photos after I've added the rubber bands and satin ribbons. I also bought some merino wool during the Turku Medieval Faire thingy, and I've spun and knit some of it - a photo coming soon.

Tiedän mitä tein viime viikolla - I know what I did last week

Viime aikoina irkkutanssi on kaapannut huomattavan suuren osan ajastani. Tänä iltana käymme keikkailemassa, joskus pitäisi varmaan laittaa tänne kuva tanssipuvustakin kun teimme ne kerran alusta asti itse - tai no, emme nyt sentään kankaita kutoneet tai ompelulankoja kehränneet. Mutta muuten.

During the past weeks, Irish dancing has taken a lot of my time. Tonight we've got a gig. I guess I might add a photo of my dancing dress; we made them all by ourselves, apart from the fabric being made in a factory, as well as the sewing thread.



Tässä esittäytyy sitten uusin projektini neulesaralla (vaikka niitä loppuunsaattamattomiakin löytyy vielä ihan liikaa). Lankana on Sylvi Salosen alesta kaapattu Marks & Kattensin Camomille, 100% puuvillaa. Joko tästä näkee mitä siitä on tulossa? Valmista ohjetta en käytä, koska en löytänyt mieleistä, joten odotan mitä suurimmalla mielenkiinnolla miten projekti onnistuu...

Here's my most recent knitting project (although I still have a few of the older ones to finish). The yarn is from Camomille by Marks & Kattens, I got it from a local yarn/design store sale, it's 100% cotton. Is it possible to say what this is turning into? I don't have a pattern to follow, since I didn't find a pleasing enough one... so I'm very interested in seeing what will happen with this one.


Ai niin, jossain vaiheessa pitäisi myös neuloa SixSoxin kesä-heinäkuun sukat, näyttivät mukavilta. Kaapissa olisi odottamassa vaaleanpunaista Sisua, joka varmaan sopisi niihin oikein hyvin...

Oh, and I want to knit the June/July SixSox socks. I have the perfect rosy sock yarn for them in my stash...

Shimmer

Tässä Shimmer Knittystä. Tämä ehti olla ufona melkein vuoden, mutta nyt se valmistui parissa päivässä. Lanka on Idena Cotton Sport ja väri musta, vaikka näyttääkin kuvissa vähän hailakalta. Malli on kiva ja mukava päällä, lankakin on päällä mukava mutta ehkä turhan paksu, hihat ovat hieman isot, mutta menee tämä hyvin näinkin. Irtohihoille on aina käyttöä!

Here's Shimmer from Knitty. It's ufo existence was ended by me in the last couple of days, because I thought I could use some sleeves. The yarn is Idena Cotton Sport, the colour black, the photos are a bit too light. I like the pattern, and the finished garment feels nice, although I think the yarn is a bit too thick and the sleeves are not as tight as I'd like them to be. Anyway, this'll do!

65% cotton, 35% acrylic
Gauge: 20 sts x 27 rounds = 10 x 10 cm
I used Addi circulars 3,5mm and 4mm and
a set of (at the moment) unidentified dpns

Tänään ajattelin näyttää teille mitä viimeisen puolen vuoden aikana on syntynyt, mutta jäänyt dokumentoimatta täällä - ja myös jotain tällä hetkellä puikoilla olevaa.

Today I thought I could show you some stuff I've made during the last six months or so but have not blogged about earlier. I'll also post a couple of photos of a current project.


Naisten lapaset, Novita Wool neliraita, puikot muistaakseni 3mm. Malli oma.
Women's mittens, the yarn is Novita Wool (100% wool), and I guess the needles were 3mm. The pattern is my own.


Skull Cap Voguen Knit.1 -lehdestä (en löydä lehteä juuri nyt, joten en muista mikä numero se oli, pahoittelut!). Lankana Sisu.

Suunnittelin ja neuloin nämä sormikkaat Garnstudion Silke-Tweedistä. Puikot 2,5mm. Tarkoituksena oli tehdä sormikkaat joissa on viktoriaaninen sävy. Ja kyllä, napit voi oikeasti avata, sillä kikkailin hiukan ranneosan kanssa...

I designed and knitted these gloves, the yarn is Silke-Tweed by Garnstudio, and I used 2,5mm needles. I wanted to make gloves with a Victorian taste to them. And yes, you may unbutton these, since I made the cuff in a non-traditional way...

Sukkia - Socks

Tällaiset sukat neuloin isälle syntymäpäivälahjaksi. Lankana Step, bambupuikot 2,5mm, apuna Charlene Schurchin Sensational Knitted Socks -kirja. Alla kuvia ensimmäisestä SixSox-projektistani, Horcrux Socks, malli Susan Pierce Lawrence. Lanka Silja Strömpegarn, näissäkin 2,5mm bambut.

I knitted socks as a birthday present for my father. The yarn is Austermann Step, I used 2,5mm bamboo needles and the book Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch. Below are photos of my first SixSox project, Horcrux Socks, pattern by Susan Pierce Lawrence. The yarn is Silja Strompegarn, knitted with 2,5mm bamboo needles.

Salasukka - Sneak peak

Pari tällaisia lähti tänään postin matkaan kohti salaista sukkaystävää. Malli on Bed Sock in Lemon Pattern Fancy Knit Stripe, Nancy Bushin kirjasta Knitting Vintage Socks: New Twists on Classic Patterns. Toivottavasti löytävät perille ja ovat mieluiset.

This sock and her companion are now on their way towards the mail box of my secret sock exchange friend. The pattern is Bed Sock in Lemon Pattern Fancy Knit Stripe, from the book Knitting Vintage Socks: New Twists on Classic Patterns by Nancy Bush. I hope these will find their way to the new owner and are accepted by her.

Sukkavaihtoa - Sock exchange

Sukkavaihtosukat tulivat ja ilahduttivat! Näiden Sisu-söpöläisten tekijä löytyy täältä. Suurkiitos, sukat ovat juuri sopivat ja ihanat ja kaikkea! Onnistuivat mielestäni varsin hyvin, vaikka kortissa tekijä ilmaisi huolestuneisuutensa. Lahjussuklaa otetaan kuitenkin ilolla vastaan, se pääsee herkkukaappiin odottamaan lauantaita... Sukat ovat tässä päätyneet kirjahyllyn eteen 'narulle'.

The sock exchange socks arrived today, I'm very happy! The person who made these beauties can be found here. Thank you very much, the socks fit me perfectly, they're lovely! I think they're a success, although the greeting card expressed some worries. However, the chocolate which arrived with the socks is gladly accepted; I'll put it aside until Saturday. The socks pose in front of one of our bookshelves here.
